The firm of Chong, Nishimoto, Sia, Nakamura & Goya, LLLP, a limited liability law limited partnership, formerly known as Ayabe, Chong, Nishimoto, Sia & Nakamura, LLP, was established in January 1963. Attorneys in the firm are Jeffrey H. K. Sia, Kenneth T. Goya, Patricia T. Fujii, Ann H. Aratani, Philip S. Uesato, Ronald M. Shigekane, Steven L. Goto, Stephen G. Dyer, Gary S. Miyamoto, Ryan I. Inouye, Zale T. Okazaki, Kanani M. Smull, and Emily K. Fong.
Since its inception in 1963, the firm has been engaged in the practice of all types of litigation, including matters involving aviation, construction, dram shop liability, employment-related liability (including sexual harassment and discrimination), general liability, insurance coverage, bad faith, motor vehicle, premises, product liability, professional malpractice (including medical, dental, REALTOR®, accountant, broker and legal), homeowner association and directors and officers, tort, contract, administrative, workers' compensation, asbestos, tobacco, class action, and all other types of insurance-related litigation.
The firm is proud to note that five of its former partners have received judicial appointments, the most notable being the former Chief Justice of the Hawaii Supreme Court. Other former partners have presided over State Circuit and District Courts. Robert A. Chong served as the longstanding Chair, Board of Examiners for the Hawaii Supreme Court. Our senior managing partner, Jeffrey H. K. Sia, served as President of the Hawaii State Bar Association and Hawaii State Bar Foundation, as did former partners, Sidney K. Ayabe and Calvin E. Young. John S. Nishimoto was the past State Chair for the American College of Trial Lawyers.
